QA Engineer

QA engineering contractor with experience in networking and Web services for a several months contract with a possible conversion to perm status; (direct hire to perm status is also possible).

Required Experience

  • Extensive networking experience, including VPNs, SSL, RIP, DHCP, 802.11g.
  • Extensive QA experience testing networking devices and Web services.
  • Ability to test from a white-box perspective is an absolute must. Candidate must be eager to dig deeply into our solution by evaluating the internal implementation looking for weaknesses, and use their scripting skills to provoke the product in severe ways.
  • Experience with Linux, Linux shell scripts, mySQL, PHP, and HTML.
  • A BS degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering is required. A Master’s degree in these fields is a plus.

Desired Experience

  • Prior experience developing networking devices and software a big plus.
  • Experience with SSL VPNs and/or networking management a big plus.
  • Past experience managing large networks a big plus.

Key Objectives & Major Responsibilities

  • Create & run tests to validate RIP, non-NAT’d solution, performance, and UI functions
  • Create & run tests designed to catch regressions.
  • Work-through backlog of fixed bugs and create & run test cases for each.

Performance Metrics

  • Number of regressions detected in production (and missed by QA).
  • Backlog of bugs fixed by engineering but not yet verified by QA.
  • Reproducible process including tracking of test cases in a manner that other QA resources can re-run tests for regression testing.
  • Writing of scripts to automatically test aspects of the solution.


Web Server Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Web Services team to design and code web server code in PHP and Java including reporting infrastructure, server load balancing and other code improvements required to scale our web service. The position reports to the VP of Web Services.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong understanding of the server side software: Scalability, Performance and Reliability, Data Security – You have worked on server side code that scaled to at least 1000’s of concurrent users.
  • Experience with successful implementations of complex, highly scalable and highly available systems in a multi-tier environment.
  • 3+ years experienced with Linux servers, preferably virtual servers in a cloud environment.
  • 5+ years experience with Java, including Spring/Hibernate and at least one Application Server.
  • 5+ years experience with one or more scripting languages (PHP, Ruby, etc); more is better.
  • 5+ years experience with SQL and relational database programming.
  • Excellent communicator who can manage expectations and work with the engineering, solutions engineering, and product marketing teams.
  • Successful candidate will be highly motivated and able to work effectively in a fast paced, dynamic, team oriented environment.

Remote Printing Daemon Engineer

We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our Device Engineering Services team to write a remote printing daemon. The position reports to the VP of Device Engineering.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 3+ years experience with printer drivers and/or Samba.
  • 3+ years experience with C/C++ and shell scripting.
  • Familiarity with Zero Configuration Networking (Bonjour) & UPnP.
  • Excellent communicator who can manage expectations and work with the engineering, solutions engineering, and product marketing teams.
  • Successful candidate will be highly motivated and able to work effectively in a fast paced, dynamic, team oriented environment.


Network-Attached Storage Engineer

We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our Device Engineering Services team to implement network attached storage solutions. The position reports to the VP of Device Engineering.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years experience with NAS, especially in an open-source context.
  • 5+ years experience with C/C++ and shell scripting.
  • Excellent communicator who can manage expectations and work with the engineering, solutions engineering, and product marketing teams.
  • Successful candidate will be highly motivated and able to work effectively in a fast paced, dynamic, team oriented environment.


Board Bring-Up Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Device Engineering Services team to bring-up Linux and other open source packages on new hardware platforms. The position reports to the VP of Device Engineering.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years experience doing board bring-up, especially with Linux and SOCs.
  • 3+ years experience with open source packages such as MadWiFi, OpenSSL, and OpenVPN.
  • Strong understanding of the Linux kernel components needed for board bring-up, including board.c, and register mappings.
  • 5+ years experience with C/C++ and shell scripting.
  • Excellent communicator who can manage expectations and work with the engineering, solutions engineering, and product marketing teams.
  • Successful candidate will be highly motivated and able to work effectively in a fast paced, dynamic, team oriented environment.
